Lights, Camera, WORKOUT!

Last Thursday was a BIG day for Chix in Training! 100 Chix
from camps in Villa Grove, Tuscola, Arcola, and Philo would all come together and workout.  This special event was being taped for the show CI Living on Channel 3. Though this was not to be the first television debut for the Chix, it was, however, the first time all the camps came together for one huge workout to be shown on television. Mom, Amy and I were asked to share our family experience with Chix in Training on camera. I was honored to do it but as you could have imagined a little freaked out to be talking on camera. The day of the big event, I woke up at 3:30 a.m in order to take a shower and do my makeup.   Sorry, you have to workout with me in order to be privileged to see what I look like at 5 a.m. Let me tell you, it isn't pretty!
It was great to see all the Chix from the different camps. We did circuit training that morning, making our way through 4 stations, working out with each of the four sets of trainers.  It was a great work out and fun to experience the different trainers. What I didn't plan on was that I would begin to sweat! I know....I should have known better. Well as you can imagine, my make up began to run down my face and my perfect hair began to be not so perfect. Oh well, now I will look more authentic...right?
Finally, after sweating for 45 minutes it was time for us to attempt an interview.  We had discussed briefly what we would say but mainly planned to play it by ear.  There we stood, all three of us in a row in front of a big camera with a microphone in our hand like we were about to report some breaking news.  Amy started, answering questions that were asked by Joe and then it was Mom's turn.  Who knew that putting a microphone in her hand would bring out her inner Katie Couric! Haha. She went on and on. I kept trying to hit Amy in the leg, as to say, "What the heck is she doing!"  I tried not to laugh, for it was quite funny. By the time I got the microphone everything that needed to be said had been told. Whew. My lucky day! Less time to make a fool out of myself. We'll have to wait and see if we make the cut and don't end up on the editing room floor.
Tune into WCIA channel 3, CI Living on Feb 1st at 3 p.m. CT to experience a taste of the Chix and see a 100 beautiful women!

Thank you, thank you, thank you

Thank you so much for the overwhelming support and response to the blog. It has been a great first week. The power of the Internet and Facebook truly amazes me.  My blog has been read by people I know well and people I have never met. I even have readers in Indiana and Hawaii, and who knows where else. It touches my heart to think that my small story may impact someone and help them find the courage to make a change.  I hope you continue with me on my journey!

The Here And Now, And What's To Come

Happy New Year! Isn't it great to have a fresh start? A chance to make 2012 a fabulous year!  This year for me, has already been great and its only the 17th. I was chosen by Chix in Training to participate in a sports nutrition journey. I will be working with them for the next year to help hit my goal of becoming half my size and completing my first half marathon. I will be blogging my progress weekly, giving the ins and outs of this adventure.  It will be a year full of triumphs and struggles but I look forward to them. I am thoroughly excited about what 2012 will bring to my life and others through this journey.
