Let me start by saying that no words will ever explain the LOVE, GRATITUDE and ADMIRATION that I have for Chix in Training and its founders Tish and Rebekah. They are truly special people who have helped me become the person I was always meant to be... healthy, happy and full of life.
My journey with Chix in Training began in June of 2010. I had been feeling down and disappointed with my situation once again. To make matters worse my brother had announced that he would be getting married the following spring. Great! Not only was I fat and disgusting but now I would have to be part of a wedding where everyone would see me.
After having a heart to heart with my sister, a conversation she had heard many times, she suggested I go to boot camp with her. BOOT CAMP...seriously! I remember telling her, "Are you sure I am not too fat for that?", "I will probably have a heart attack!" She assured me that I would be fine and that each move would be modified to my fitness level. With a little hesitation, I signed up that night. Two weeks later my life would be changed forever.
The night before the first day of boot camp I hardly slept. I was nervous, worried and excited all at once. I was nervous to be working out with a bunch of people I didn't know. Worried that I would be the heaviest one there and that I may pass out. But excited to be starting something again that may help me loose weight.
The first day arrived and the 4 a.m. wake up call was no problem, mainly due to the adreniline I had pumping through my veins. We worked out in the open field in front of the barn, lifting weights and doing execises to raise our heart rate. The only thing I can remember is Amy telling me to breathe and take it easy. I didn't pass out that day and I completed the full workout. Best of all, I came back the next day and haven't missed a 6 week session since.
There are many reason why I love Chix in Training. First, you don't have to show up to a smelly gym where there are teenagers running around in their short shorts and men looking at themselves while they pump iron. You get to workout outside and breathe in fresh air amongst women who have the same goals as you. The workouts are constantly changing so you are never bored and you leave with a full body workout. Secondly, You have Tish and Rebekah as your trainers. These two are a hoot. The energy they let off makes it hard for you not to smile and do another push up. You also have someone holding you accountable each day because there is always someone missing you when you're gone. Last but certainly not least, Chix are not only providing me the tools to transform my body, they are teaching me how to renew my mind through the Word, an area I needed more than I knew.
Its been 18 months since my first workout with the Chix. I really can't believe where the time has gone. Its been a beautiful journey full of accomplishment, tears and laughter. I have learned so much about myself and what I am capable of. Being a Chix is a honor I wouldn't trade for anything and very thankful everyday that it came into my life. I look forward to accomplishing the next step of my journey with the Chix by my side.
