Last Thursday was a BIG day for Chix in Training! 100 Chix
from camps in Villa Grove, Tuscola, Arcola, and Philo would all come together and workout. This special event was being taped for the show CI Living on Channel 3. Though this was not to be the first television debut for the Chix, it was, however, the first time all the camps came together for one huge workout to be shown on television. Mom, Amy and I were asked to share our family experience with Chix in Training on camera. I was honored to do it but as you could have imagined a little freaked out to be talking on camera. The day of the big event, I woke up at 3:30 a.m in order to take a shower and do my makeup. Sorry, you have to workout with me in order to be privileged to see what I look like at 5 a.m. Let me tell you, it isn't pretty!
It was great to see all the Chix from the different camps. We did circuit training that morning, making our way through 4 stations, working out with each of the four sets of trainers. It was a great work out and fun to experience the different trainers. What I didn't plan on was that I would begin to sweat! I know....I should have known better. Well as you can imagine, my make up began to run down my face and my perfect hair began to be not so perfect. Oh well, now I will look more authentic...right?
Finally, after sweating for 45 minutes it was time for us to attempt an interview. We had discussed briefly what we would say but mainly planned to play it by ear. There we stood, all three of us in a row in front of a big camera with a microphone in our hand like we were about to report some breaking news. Amy started, answering questions that were asked by Joe and then it was Mom's turn. Who knew that putting a microphone in her hand would bring out her inner Katie Couric! Haha. She went on and on. I kept trying to hit Amy in the leg, as to say, "What the heck is she doing!" I tried not to laugh, for it was quite funny. By the time I got the microphone everything that needed to be said had been told. Whew. My lucky day! Less time to make a fool out of myself. We'll have to wait and see if we make the cut and don't end up on the editing room floor.
Tune into WCIA channel 3, CI Living on Feb 1st at 3 p.m. CT to experience a taste of the Chix and see a 100 beautiful women!

Jen I can not tell you how completely inspireing this is. First of all I think you are an increadible person anyway no matter what you weigh! Getting to know you over the college years I was always amazed by your intelligence and desire to help others and take charge in group events. You are an amazing kind person that is full of love for others I am so overwhelmingly happy to hear that you now love yourself. I pray that your journey continues to grow the amazing person you already are! I am so happy for you!! Melissa Zimmerman
